Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup, semi-permanent makeup, cosmetic tattooing, and micro pigmentation are all names for the same thing, which involves inserting pigment into the papillary dermis to achieve desired results. Permanent makeup is the art of using specialized techniques to enhance the color and shape of your natural features.

The Fountain Skincare and MedSpa at Mancoll Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery offers three types of cosmetic tattooing for brows: microblading, powder brows, and combo brows. It all begins with a consultation with our licensed Master Esthetician & Cosmetic Tattooer, Amie Arsenault to discuss the various options. Amie will provide an assessment, taking into consideration your natural eyebrow shape, color, facial features, and the overall look you desire.

Microblading

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing used to enhance the shape of your eyebrows. Tiny, precise hair-like strokes are tattooed manually into the skin to mimic the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs, resulting in a fuller and more defined eyebrow look.

A topical numbing cream will be applied before microblading to minimize discomfort. Then, a microblading tool will be used to create thin hair-like strokes by manually etching pigment into the skin. The strokes are carefully layered to achieve a realistic and natural appearance, paying close attention to the direction of the natural hair growth and desired arch and shape.

After the initial microblading session, the treated area may appear darker and more intense than the final result due to the pigment oxidation process. Over the next few weeks, the color will soften and fade as the skin heals. It is common to experience some scabbing and flaking during the healing process.

A follow-up appointment, or touch-up session, can be scheduled approximately 6 weeks after your initial treatment. During this appointment, any necessary adjustments can be made, if needed, to ensure the final result meets your expectations. Microblading typically lasts around 1-3 years and in some cases even longer. Longevity can vary depending on factors such as skin type, aftercare, and excessive sun exposure. To maintain the appearance of your brows, you may need periodic touch-up sessions.

Powder Brows

Powder brows, also known as ombre brows or microshading, involves a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing technique used to enhance and define your eyebrows. It is a more subtle and softer alternative to traditional microblading. This technique creates a powdered effect that resembles the “shaded” or “polished” look you might typically achieve when using makeup to fill in your brows. Unlike traditional microblading, in which hairlike strokes are manually tattooed into the skin, it involves a specialized microblading machine that deposits pigment into the skin in a soft, stippling or shading motion. This creates a more diffused and filled-in appearance similar to the look of makeup. Multiple layers of pigment are applied to gradually build up the intensity and achieve the desired level of color saturation. This layering technique allows for a customizable result, ranging from a very subtle natural look to a more defined appearance.

Combo Brows

Combo brows involve a combination of both microblading and powder brow techniques to create a balanced and textured appearance of the eyebrows. Microblading is used to create more visible hair-like strokes at the front of the brow, following the natural direction of the hair growth. Then the technique is switched and pigment is applied in a soft gradient manner throughout the arch and tail of the brow to add depth and definition to the rest of the brow.

In addition to our cosmetic tattooing for the brows, we also offer lip blushing.

Lip Blushing

Lip blushing is a form of cosmetic tattooing designed to enhance the appearance of the lips by adding semi-permanent color and definition. Lip blushing is suitable for those looking for a natural-looking lip enhancement that reduces the need for daily makeup application or those looking to correct the shape, color, or symmetry of their lips. The pigments used for lip blushing are specifically formulated for the lips and are available in a variety of shades to match different skin tones and desired lip colors.
