VASERlipo™ (Ultrasonic Liposuction)

Precision Body Contouring

If you have struggled with weight gain, and diet and exercise just haven’t given you the dramatic transformation you’d like, VASERlipo™ can help. VASERlipo™ uses a precise, minimally invasive liposuction technology that produces eye-catching results in just one procedure, without the discomfort and long recovery times of traditional liposuction. The procedure is tissue selective, targeting fat while protecting other tissues from damage. It’s powerful enough to eliminate substantial areas of fat but gentle enough to treat delicate areas, such as the neck and arms. VASERlipo™ is clinically proven to produce even results in treated areas, leaving your skin smooth and your body beautiful.

Key Benefits of VASERlipo™:

  • Single procedure results with speedy recovery times
  • Improved body contouring over traditional liposuction
  • Easily removes large amounts of stored fat
  • Smoothes skin, even in delicate areas like the arms and neck
  • Refines and accentuates the appearance of muscles
  • All of the fat extracted after VASERlipo™ can be reused to augment the buttock, breasts, or face.

Ideal Candidate

The optimal patient for any body contouring procedure should be close to his or her ideal weight. However, we understand that this is not possible for everybody. Dr. Mancoll will counsel you regarding your candidacy for this procedure.

VASERlipo™ advanced technology is so effective that Dr. Mancoll utilized it on a very large majority of his liposuction cases. It has a dramatic effect toward helping to facilitate fat removal, involves less tissue injury, and has a much easier recovery than typical liposuction.

Procedure

VASERlipo™ is designed as an outpatient, single-treatment, minimally invasive procedure. It is usually done with sedation anesthesia and tumescent infiltration of numbing medicine. General anesthesia is available in our surgical suite if a patient desires. During the procedure, ultrasound energy is used to treat unwanted fat, loosening the cells from other tissues so they can be gently removed through a small cannula. Depending on the number of areas being treated, the procedure can take as little as 1 hour or up to several hours. At the completion of the procedure, patients will wear a compressive garment to help control bruising and swelling.

Costs

There are several factors that determine the total cost of VASERlipo™, including the following:

  • Facility fees
  • Anesthesia fees
  • Surgical fees
  • Prescriptions for medication
  • Post-surgery garments

VASERlipo™ is regarded as a cosmetic procedure and is not typically covered by insurance. Feel free to contact the surgical coordinator for pricing and to request more information about this or other cosmetic procedures.

Potential Risks and Complications

As with any surgical procedure, there are certain risks, such as scars, infection, bleeding, asymmetries, postoperative discomfort, and adverse reaction to anesthesia. Although significant complications are uncommon, patients should understand that any surgery, performed for any reason, has risks and should not be taken lightly.

Dr. Mancoll prides himself on his ability to communicate with his patients and tailors each discussion to the patient’s individual needs. Dr. Mancoll and his staff will spend time helping you understand your procedure. You should feel free to ask questions at any time, and if you don’t understand the information, we will be more than happy to go over it again.

Recovery

One of the great benefits of VASERlipo™ is the quicker recovery time compared to traditional liposuction. Although patients are given prescriptions for post-op pain control, rarely do patients need medications beyond the first few days. Bruising and swelling are common in all types of liposuction, but with VASERlipo™ it tends to be less. After a VASERlipo™ procedure, patients wear special compression garments to help skin contract smoothly to the body’s new contours. A short period of rest (typically 12 hours) is recommended, followed by 2 to 3 weeks of general recovery. During this time period, strenuous activities should be avoided. Most patients will return to work in 2 to 3 days. Low-impact actives, such as walking, are encouraged immediately, but high-impact activities will take 3 to 4 weeks.

Results

The outcome of VASERlipo™ is fantastic. Patients can see noticeable changes immediately. All body contouring procedures require up to 6 months until the final results are fully achieved; bruising, swelling, and skin-tightening effects all need time.
